Agathiya Matriculation Higher Secondary School Walajabad has its spot on Mill Road. Being at No 1 makes it easy to find if you are coming into the Walajabad area. We are right there in Kanchipuram district. It’s a busy little spot, especially since Mill Road has its own rhythm with the local shops and people moving about. The school has been here long enough that most folks just know us by name. We have the standard classrooms and a space for the students to run around during their lunch break. It’s not a huge campus but we make use of every corner we have. The morning prayer starts early and you can hear the kids from the street. We handle the higher secondary classes too, so the older students are always busy with their labs and records. It’s a lot of work for them but that’s how it goes. Sometimes the fans in the rooms are a bit noisy, but we try to keep things running as smooth as we can. The staff rooms are usually full of books and tea cups. People from the surrounding villages send their children here, so we see a lot of bicycles parked outside. It’s a practical place, no big tall glass buildings or anything like that. Just bricks and mortar and a lot of books. We try to keep the place tidy but with so many kids, there’s always something to clean up by the evening when everyone leaves.
