Jirjar Farmer Producer Company Limited

Jirjar Farmer Producer Company Limited is located in the Karbi Anglong district, specifically in a village called Rongkuroi. It’s a hilly area, and it can be quite a walk to get from one place to another. We are near Donkamokam, and our main point of contact is over at Sarbura Teron’s place. The name Jirjar is something we picked out to represent us as a group. Most of us here have been farming our whole lives, so we know the soil pretty well. We aren't some big city operation with computers and desks. Our work happens out on the slopes and in the fields. It’s a lot of walking and a lot of heavy lifting, but that’s just how it is in the hills. We decided to form this company because it seemed like the only way to get things done properly. When you’re out in a place like Rongkuroi, you have to depend on your neighbors for a lot. We talk about the crops, the pests, and the prices while we’re out working. It’s a simple life, but it’s ours. We don't really have a lot of fancy words to describe what we do. We just grow things and hope the weather stays on our side. Most days start early, before the sun is even fully up, and we just keep going until it gets too dark to see. This is just our life here in the hills of Karbi Anglong.
