Char Chapori Farmer Producer Company Limited is mostly just Mizanur Rahman and a bunch of us from around the Tamukbari area. We live near the river areas so the land is good but the water is always something we have to watch out for. Our place isn't anything special to look at. It's just where we gather to figure out the logistics of our farming. We spend most of our mornings out in the fields before the sun gets too high in the sky. Mizanur keeps the records and makes sure we’re all doing what we said we’d do. It’s a lot of hand tools and manual work. We don’t use any of those big fancy machines you see on TV because we can't afford them. We grow what the land allows and try to make sure it gets to the market in good shape. Sometimes the transport doesn't show up on time and we have to scramble to find another way. It’s a stressful life but it’s ours. We don’t have a formal lobby or a receptionist. If you come by, you’ll probably find us sitting on the porch or working in the back shed. We talk about the prices in the city and how much we need for the next season. It’s just practical stuff. We’ve been here for years and this company is just a way to keep our traditions alive while trying to make a little bit more.
