We are Dafey Munal Farmers Producer Company Limited, and we operate out of Gorubathan in the Kalimpong area. Specifically, we are located at Devi Tamang’s place in Tamang Gaon. It’s a beautiful part of the hills near the Fagu post office. Since we are a farmers producer group, our whole lives revolve around the local land and the people who work it. It’s not like a city office here. Things move a bit slower, and we like it that way. Most of us have been farming these hills for generations. Setting up this company was just a way to bring everyone together so we could have a bit more say in how our produce is handled. We deal with whatever is in season. The weather up here in Kalimpong can be unpredictable, so we spend a lot of time planning for rain or cold snaps. It’s a simple setup at Tamang Gaon. We meet there to discuss seeds, harvests, and who is going to take what to the market. It’s more of a collective than a strict business. We do not have fancy titles or big offices. We just have our boots and our tools. Working together like this makes the hard days a bit easier. We’re just local people trying to make a living from the earth.
