Sambhadri Farmers Producer Company

Our small group is located right at 1-1 in Jilugumadu. Sambhadri Farmers Producer Company started because a few of us in the village realized we could do better if we worked as one unit. Farming in this specific area has its own set of problems, from the soil quality being patchy to getting enough water when the weather gets dry. We aren't some big corporation from the city. We are just the people you see in the fields every single day. Our office is a simple room where we keep our files and meet up after the long day's work is finally done. Usually, it's just us talking about which seeds worked best or how to fix a pump that keeps breaking down. There isn't any fancy furniture or air conditioning in our meeting space. We just focus on the task at hand. Life in Jilugumadu is quiet, and we generally like it that way, but we also want to make sure our farming is profitable enough to keep us going. We help each other out with equipment and share what we know about the land around here. It’s a lot of manual labor and sometimes the rewards feel pretty small, but we keep at it. Having this company helps us feel a bit more secure about what the future might hold. We don't have a big mission statement, just a bunch of neighbors trying to help out other neighbors. It is a slow process but we like it.
