Traditional Art & Crafts

Our place is at A-232 in Shastri Nagar. It’s a pretty straightforward residential area, so we fit right in with the houses around us. Traditional Art & Crafts is a name we’ve used for a while, mostly because that’s what we have here. If you walk into the workshop, you’ll see piles of wood, some half-finished pieces, and tools lying around. It isn't the kind of place that looks like a corporate office. There are shavings on the floor most days and the smell of glue or polish is always in the air. We have a small crew of people who have been with us for years. We don’t really do big advertisements or anything like that. Word just gets around the neighborhood. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait a bit, but that’s just how things go here. We get our supplies from the same people every month. It’s a slow process sometimes, making these things by hand. We aren’t trying to be the biggest business in India; we just want to keep doing what we know how to do. The desk in the front is usually covered in receipts and old notebooks where we keep track of who ordered what. It’s a bit messy, but we know where everything is. Shastri Nagar is home to us and we like the pace here.
