New Children Academy

We are located at 18/67 in the Chopasni Housing Board area of Jodhpur. It’s a residential neighborhood, so it feels very local and familiar. The building is a typical house-style structure converted for classes. It gets very hot in Jodhpur, so we have coolers running most of the time to keep the rooms bearable. The space is a bit tight, but we’ve organized the desks to make the most of it. There is a small area out front where the cycles are parked. You can hear the neighborhood sounds, like the vegetable sellers and cars, from the classrooms. We have a small office where the principal sits, usually surrounded by stacks of notebooks and empty tea cups. The teachers are mostly local women who have lived in the housing board for years. We use simple chalkboards and the kids carry heavy bags full of textbooks. It’s a straightforward environment without any bells and whistles. During the breaks, the kids eat their parathas in the hallways. We don’t have a big hall, so any gatherings happen right in the middle of the courtyard. It’s just how we operate here. People know us as the school on the corner. We keep the gate locked during lessons for safety. Most of the families around here have been sending their kids to us for a long time. It is a very normal part of the community.
