Alma Mater Primary School

Alma Mater Primary School is found at number 94 on Nph Road in Jodhpur. We are right in the heart of the 342001 area. The school has been part of this street for a long time, and the building definitely shows its age with its thick stone walls and high ceilings that keep things a bit cooler. Jodhpur gets incredibly hot during the summer months, so we spent a good amount of time making sure the water coolers are always full and working for the children. Our school is a primary one, so we only have the younger kids here. The classrooms are basic, with old wooden desks that have many names carved into them from students who attended years ago. There is a small courtyard where the kids stand for their morning assembly and some exercises. It’s a bit cramped when everyone is out there at once, but we make it work. The noise from Nph Road is always in the background—horns honking and people shouting—but once the lessons start, we mostly tune it out. Our teachers are local people who have been with us for many years, so they know the neighborhood well and often taught the parents of our current students. We don't have a big library or a computer lab, just the standard textbooks and some charts on the walls. It’s an old-fashioned kind of place where we focus on reading, writing, and basic math. Parents usually stop by the gate to chat with the staff at the end of the day.
