Marwar Namkeen Merchant

If you are walking around near Syndicate Bank, just outside the Sojati Gate, you’ll likely see our spot. Marwar Namkeen Merchant has been a fixture in this part of town for a while. The area around Sojati Gate is always moving, with bikes and rickshaws constantly buzzing by. It’s dusty and loud, but that’s the spirit of the place. We spend our mornings getting the snacks ready, and the smell of frying and spices usually fills the air long before the sun is high. We don’t have a very big team, just a few of us who know the recipes by heart. We use big metal bowls and ladles that have been around for years. The shop itself is pretty simple, with glass jars and containers lining the shelves so people can see what we’ve got. We don't bother with fancy packaging or clever names for things. It’s just namkeen, made the way we’ve always done it. On busy days, the line of people can get a bit long, and we have to move fast to keep up. Sometimes we run out of the popular items by the afternoon, and we have to start a new batch right then. It’s hot work, standing over the heat in this climate, but it’s what we do. We like the regulars who stop by for a chat while they wait for their parcel and some tea.
