Arts & Crafts Exports

Our place is over at 39 in the Heavy Industrial Area. It’s exactly what it sounds like—lots of trucks and noise all day. Arts & Crafts Exports has been sitting here for years. We mostly deal with bigger shipments, sending things out to different places. The warehouse is big and drafty, especially in the winter months. We spend a lot of time wrapping things in bubble wrap and crates so nothing breaks during the long trips. It’s hard work and your back starts to feel it after a few hours of loading. We aren't a big corporate office with fancy chairs. We have a small desk tucked in the corner where we keep the paperwork. Usually, there’s a tea stall nearby where we go for breaks. It’s funny how much stuff goes through these doors. Sometimes I look at a finished piece and wonder whose house it will end up in across the ocean. We don't have a big team, just a handful of us who know how to pack things right. The driveway is always a bit tricky for the big lorries to turn around in. You get used to the rhythm of the machines and the sounds of the neighborhood. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do. We just make sure the orders get out on time and the items are right before the doors close on the truck and it heads off into the city traffic.
