Omkanta Degree College

Omkanta Degree College is located out in Raksa, specifically in Village Kotkhere near Jhansi. It is a bit of a trek for some people who live further away, but it is quiet out here. The building looks like most colleges in this part of Uttar Pradesh. We have classrooms with wooden benches and old blackboards. Students come from all the nearby villages. You will see them hanging out in the hallways between their classes. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just open the windows to let the breeze in. It gets dusty because of the roads nearby, so there is always someone sweeping up. We have a small office where we keep all the records and registers. It is not very modern but it works for what we need. Teachers walk around with their books and papers, heading to the next lecture. Most of the talk around here is about upcoming exams or who missed a class yesterday. Life moves a bit slower in Raksa compared to the main city of Jhansi. During the admissions season, it gets quite busy with families asking about the different courses we have. We try to keep things organized but it can get messy with all the paperwork. It is just a regular place where local young people come to get their degrees and move on to whatever is next for them. It is a simple life here at the college.
