Maharani Laxmibai Medical College & Hospital

Our workplace is the Radiotherapy and Cancer Department, which is inside the Maharani Laxmibai Medical College & Hospital campus on Kanpur Road. It is a big place in Jhansi, and people come from all over the 284001 area to get here. The department is usually busy from the moment we walk in. There are lots of corridors and heavy doors because of the equipment we use. It can feel a bit cold and clinical sometimes, but that is just the nature of a hospital. We spend a lot of time checking schedules and making sure the machines are ready for the next person. The staff wears scrubs or lab coats, and we carry a lot of clipboards around. Outside the department, the rest of the campus is often full of people walking between buildings or waiting on benches under the trees. It’s a long walk from the main gate to where we are located. We see a lot of different people every day, some looking worried and others just waiting. Lunch breaks are usually quick because there is always something that needs to be done. The air smells like cleaning supplies and old paper records. It isn’t a cheerful place, but it is where we work and where people need us to be. We just keep the lights on and follow the daily routine as best as we can. There is always a list of things to finish before we go home for the night.
