Study Palace

Our place is on the third floor of the Dawat Hotel building. That is at number 53 on Thakurbari Road in Sakchi. If you are standing in front of the Reid and Taylor showroom, you just look across and there we are. Sakchi is always busy, no matter what time of day it is. The stairs up to the third floor can be a bit of a climb, but it is good exercise. We named it Study Palace, but it is really just a couple of rooms with whiteboards and benches. The hotel downstairs always has the smell of food wafting up, which can be a bit distracting when you are hungry. Jamshedpur is a town where people take education seriously, so we see a lot of students coming in right after their school bells ring. The windows look out over the street, and you can see the hustle of the market below. It gets pretty dusty with all the traffic, so we have to wipe down the desks every single morning. We do not have a big staff, just a few of us making sure the lessons happen on time. There is no fancy lobby or air-conditioned waiting room. People just wait on the landing or go for a walk in the market. It is a very practical setup. We have been in this building for quite a while, and the shopkeepers downstairs are all friendly with us. It is just a regular part of the Sakchi landscape now.
