Jigo Institute

Jigo Institute is right here in the Mango part of Jamshedpur. If you are looking for a big shiny building you won't find it here. We are in a regular building in the 831012 zip code area. It’s a bit cramped sometimes when everyone shows up at once but we make it work. We started this because we wanted to offer something practical to the local community. I spend a lot of my time just organizing files and making sure the lights are working. It’s a very hands-on kind of place. We don't have a receptionist in a suit or anything like that. Usually you’ll just find one of us sitting at the main desk. We talk to people plainly and tell them what we can do. Jamshedpur is a city built on hard work and we try to keep that spirit alive in Jigo Institute. Sometimes the rain makes it hard to get to Mango because of the puddles but we are always open. We’ve got a mix of young and old people coming through our doors. It’s nice to see different people from the neighborhood. We don't use big words to describe ourselves. We are just a group of people who set up an institute to help others learn new things. It’s steady work and we are happy to be doing it right here where we live. There is no corporate polish, just daily effort.
