This banking spot is located at Quarter Number 286 in Bokaro Steel City. It’s a bit of a unique setup because we are situated in one of the residential quarters that the city is known for. If you know Bokaro, you know how everything is laid out in sectors and blocks. The 827003 area is where we spend our working hours. We handle things for both ICICI and HDFC, so there’s always a mix of different bank work going on. People from around the steel plant and the nearby neighborhoods come in to deposit cash, update their passbooks, or ask about loans. The office is pretty functional with desks, computers, and a lot of registers. It’s not a big glass building like you’d find in a metro city. It’s more of a local branch where we know many of the customers by name. We deal with the usual banking crowds, which means some mornings are very slow and then suddenly everyone arrives at once. The air conditioning works most of the time, which is a relief during the hot months in Jharkhand. We spend a lot of time looking at screens and counting out notes. It’s a lot of responsibility, but we just take it one customer at a time. The atmosphere is professional but informal enough that people feel okay coming in with their questions. It’s just how we do things here in the Steel City.
