Swastik Marbles & Tiles

Our shop, Swastik Marbles & Tiles, is located at No-11 in the Patel Colony Industrial Estate. Being in an industrial estate means we are surrounded by other workshops and small factories, so it's always a productive environment. We deal mostly in marble slabs and various types of tiles. Marble is heavy and requires a lot of care, so our days are filled with moving stones and making sure nothing gets chipped. The Patel Colony area is a bit of a maze if you don't know it well, but once you find us, you’ll see we have a fair amount of stock tucked away. We started this because there was a need for building materials in this part of town. It’s not a glamorous job; there’s a lot of grit and water involved in cutting and polishing. We usually have a few guys working in the back while the rest of us handle the customers who wander in. People come to us when they are building their dream homes or just fixing up a small floor. We try to keep things honest and tell people exactly what a certain stone will look like once it’s installed. Some days are slow, while others have us running around trying to organize three deliveries at once. We don’t spend much on marketing; we just rely on doing a decent job so people tell their friends about us. It is a very hands-on way to make a living, that is for sure.
