A-One Ice Cream

We’ve been sitting here on Kalawad Gate Road for a good while now. It’s a busy spot in Panch Hatdi and you can always hear the traffic outside our door. Most days it’s just us keeping the freezers running and making sure the lids are on tight. People come in looking for something cold when the sun is hitting the pavement hard. We don't have fancy chairs or anything, just a simple counter and the smell of sweet cream in the air. Sometimes the power flickers and we have to check the generator, which is always a bit of a headache. My cousin helps out on the weekends when the families show up after dinner. It’s nothing like those big corporate shops you see in the malls. We just scoop what we have and chat with the neighbors who stop by. The floors get sticky by five o’clock so someone is always grabbing a mop. It’s a living, and we like being part of the noise on this street. There’s a tea stall nearby that brings us cups in the afternoon. The heat in Panch Hatdi gets pretty intense, so that cold air from the freezers feels like a blessing. We often sit on the small stools outside when it's quiet. Usually, the vanilla and chocolate go first. We mostly just stick to the flavors we know and don't try anything too crazy. Just tubs of ice cream and a bit of conversation. That’s how it goes every day at A-One.
