Mountain Trail

This is Mountain Trail, located in Zangsty, Leh. We are in the Hemis Complex, which is a place most locals know. Life in Ladakh is a bit slow compared to the cities down south. We have been working out of this small office for a few seasons now. It gets very cold here in the winter, so things slow down even more then. In the summer, it's a different story with all the bikes and travelers around. We spend a lot of time just talking to people who come in looking for directions or a way to get to the lakes. There is a lot of dust and the sun is very strong. Our office is simple, just some chairs and a desk where we keep our papers. We don't really do big advertisements or anything like that. Most folks find us by walking through the market area. We know the roads around here pretty well because we grew up in these mountains. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit and wait for it to come back. It's just how things work in Leh. We handle local bookings and help people figure out their routes. The Hemis Complex is easy to find if you are near the main market. We are usually here from morning until the sun goes down. There's always tea on the stove. It's not a flashy place, just a regular local business trying to make a living in the mountains. We are just here doing our bit.
