I run things from House Number 175 in Shastri Nagar. It’s more of a home-based setup for Desh Pradesh Tour Operator Travel Agent. We are quite close to the Ram Mandir, which is a big landmark in this part of Jammu. The 180001 area is where I’ve spent most of my life. It’s different from having a shop in a big mall. People usually call first or they just know where the house is. It’s a bit more personal that way. We sit in the front room and talk about travel plans. I’ve got a lot of books and folders piled up on my desk. It’s not the most organized looking place, but I know where everything is. Shastri Nagar is a decent place to work from. You get the sound of the temple bells in the evening, which is quite nice when we are finishing up. I started this because I like seeing people go on trips and come back with stories. We don’t have a mission statement or anything like that. We just help with tours and travel bookings. It’s a practical job. Sometimes the phone rings late at night and I still answer it because that’s just how it goes when you work from home. We don’t pretend to be a giant company. We are just local people who know the area well and want to help others see the world.
