Our Bharti Airtel Ltd office is at House Number 785 in Subash Nagar, which is right near the famous Jalebi Morh in Jammu. If you are from this area, you definitely know where the sweet shop is, and we are just a short walk from that busy corner. The smell of frying jalebis sometimes drifts over to us when the wind is right. We work out of a regular house, which makes the whole place feel a lot more relaxed than a corporate building in the city center. We handle a lot of the local service and technical tasks from here. It’s a mix of sitting at computers and sometimes going out to check on things in the neighborhood. The 180001 area is always active. Our desks are squeezed into the rooms and we have files stacked up on the shelves. It’s a practical workspace and we don’t worry much about how it looks as long as we can get the job done. The staff here is small, and we all know each other well. We usually have lunch together and talk about whatever is going on in Jammu that day. It can get a bit hectic when there’s a problem with the lines, but mostly it’s just a steady flow of work. People sometimes drop by thinking it’s a retail store, but we have to tell them we are more on the technical side. It’s a good spot to be in because everything you need is just around the corner.
