Mobile Rice Mills

Our place is at 14/15 in New Udyog Nagar, which is part of the Focal Point Extension near Salimpur village. Mobile Rice Mills is what we call it. It’s exactly what it sounds like—we deal with the machinery and the process of milling rice. Being near the village means we’re close to where the actual crop is. The facility is mostly open and can get quite dusty when the grain is moving. It’s noisy work, and we all have to shout to be heard sometimes. We’ve been operating out of Salimpur for a good stretch of time. The roads around here aren't the best, especially when it rains and things get muddy. But we have our regulars who bring their harvests or buy the equipment. We don’t have a fancy front office with air conditioning. Usually, we just sit on some stools in the shade when we need a break. It’s hard, physical labor and the hours can be long during the harvest season. We don’t do any big marketing. People in the agriculture business around here just know us by word of mouth. It’s a simple operation, really. We just try to keep the mills running and make sure the rice is processed properly without too much waste. We often have to fix the belts or grease the gears in the middle of a hot afternoon. It’s just a normal day for us here at the edge of the village. We like the quiet when the machines finally stop.
