Deepti Metal Works

We are located right opposite the big water tank in Basti Danishmandan. If you find the tank, you’ve basically found us. The sound of metal hitting metal is pretty much the soundtrack to our lives here. Deepti Metal Works has been in this spot for years, and we’ve become a bit of a fixture in the neighborhood. The workshop is usually a bit dark and smells like iron and welding smoke. We don't have a receptionist or a waiting room; you just walk in and find one of us near the back. Our hands are usually stained with soot or grease, so we don't shake hands much unless we’ve had a chance to scrub up. It’s hard work, and the floors are always covered in metal shavings that need to be swept up at the end of the shift. Basti Danishmandan is a tight-knit place, and we know most of the people living on our street. We do a lot of custom jobs, things that people need for their houses or their own small shops. It’s not the kind of place where things are perfect or shiny, but the stuff we make is solid. We take our breaks sitting on the bench outside when the weather is nice, watching the bikes go by and saying hello to the neighbors. It’s a simple way to spend the day, working with our hands and making things that last for the people around here.
