We've been here in the Belpl area for quite some time now. Our place is over in the Jajpur district, specifically out in Mashra. It's a busy spot, mostly because of the steel work we handle every day. When you drive down these roads in Orissa, you can see how much the landscape has changed. Most of us living nearby are used to the noise and the rhythm of the machinery. It is hard work, mostly dealing with raw materials and getting things ready for transport. Sometimes the weather gets really hot, making the shifts feel longer than they actually are. We try to keep things organized around the yard, though it gets dusty with all the trucks moving in and out. Most of the guys here have been on the floor for years. We aren't really much for fancy talk or long meetings. We just get the steel where it needs to go. The office is small and usually filled with stacks of paperwork about orders and logistics. If you're looking for us, just head past the main village road. It isn't the easiest place to find if you aren't from around here, but everyone in Mashra knows where the gates are. We just keep our heads down and do what needs doing to keep the operations running. It’s a plain existence but it keeps us busy and pays the bills for the families living around the district. That’s pretty much how it goes here.
