Pramod Kumar Behera is the man in charge of this Essar Steel location in Sukinda. We are in the Jajpur district of Orissa, 755018. If you know anything about Sukinda, you know it’s famous for all the mining, so we are right in the middle of all that activity. The ground around here is often red and very dusty because of the trucks and the mining work. Our office is a simple room where Pramod handles the emails and the phone calls. It’s a very practical environment with no fancy decorations. We don't have corporate posters on the walls, just a calendar and some notes about when the next truck is supposed to arrive. The roads in Jajpur are always busy, and we have to deal with the mud and dust that gets tracked into our yard every day. We work long hours, especially when there is a big shipment that needs to be sorted and stacked. It is a lot of manual labor and checking the iron to make sure it’s what it should be. We aren't trying to be the biggest company, we just want to get the job done. The Orissa weather can be tough with the rain, but we just keep going.
