Viva is a small shop on Tonk Road, at F-6. It’s not a huge place, but we have enough room for what we need. We handle a lot of clothes and accessories. Most of the day is spent unpacking boxes and putting things on hangers. The sunlight comes through the front window in the morning and makes it really bright. I usually spend some time cleaning the glass because the dust from Tonk Road is constant. People stop in while they are out shopping for other things. We have a small changing room in the back that sticks sometimes. It is just me and another girl working most days. We talk to the customers and help them find sizes. It’s not a fancy boutique with a lot of lights. We keep it simple. Sometimes we get new stock that doesn't fit on the racks, so we have to get creative. The neighborhood is okay, there are lots of other shops around. We know the owners of the place next door and we sometimes share a tea. The floor is tile and it’s a bit chipped near the door. It feels like a lived-in space. We don't have a big corporate team, just us trying to keep the shop looking decent. We stay until the sun goes down and then lock up for the night. The bell on the door rings every time someone enters, which helps us know when to stop folding clothes and start helping. It is a quiet but steady day.
