Ujala Saloon

We've been here at Subhash Nagar for a while now. The shop is right in the main Subhash Nagar Shopping Center. It's easy to find if you know where Kanha Restaurant is. Most people just walk over after eating there. I started Ujala Saloon because I wanted a place where neighbors could just come in. It’s not fancy. We have the usual chairs and mirrors. Sometimes it gets busy on weekends, especially being near Area Square. The fans are always running because Jaipur gets so hot. We keep things simple. You come in, get your hair cut, maybe a shave, and talk about what's going on in the city. I remember when this whole shopping center looked different. Now there are so many shops, but we stayed right here at Shop Number-A85. My brother helps out sometimes. We don't really do the big advertising thing. People just know us from passing by. It's a small space, but we keep it clean. We use the same tools we've had for years, just keeping them sharp. It’s funny how many kids have grown up coming here. They used to need a booster seat, now they're taller than me. That’s just how it goes in a place like this. We're open most days, unless something comes up. If you're walking around Subhash Nagar, you'll see the sign. Nothing too flashy, just a place to get fixed up. We just want to do our job and see people leave happy.
