The Western Collection

The Western Collection is situated at 31-A in Indira Bazar. If you’ve ever been to this market, you know that it stays very crowded from morning until night. Our shop is right in the middle of all that noise and movement. It’s not a huge place, but we make sure to use every single inch of space we have on the shelves and hangers. We usually open up around ten in the morning and we stay until the market starts to quiet down late in the evening. The lights inside are kept quite bright so that people can clearly see the colors of what we have. Indira Bazar is an old market area, and these buildings have been here for a long time. Sometimes when it rains really hard, we get a little bit of water coming in under the front door, but we just clean it up. We’ve grown very used to the sound of shoppers talking and the street vendors calling out. It’s just the normal atmosphere for us. Most of our day is spent folding things and putting them back in their places after customers have looked through them. We have a small wooden stool behind the counter where we take turns sitting down when the shop isn’t too full. The floor is made of old tile and it can get quite cold during the winter months. We just keep things moving along here. That’s pretty much how it goes every day at 31-A.
