Stone Mart

Our place, Stone Mart, is down in the LG levels of Geejgarh Tower on Hawa Sadak. Being in the basement means it stays a bit cooler than it is outside, which is a relief during the summer months when the heat is high. We are right next to the Hilton in Civil Line, so it’s easy for folks to find the building once they get to this part of town. The office is usually packed with samples. We have little pieces of stone and marble sitting all over the desks and on the metal shelves. It’s not the most organized looking office, but we know where every single piece is kept. People come in looking for something specific for their house or a renovation they are working on. We sit down with them and talk about what is actually available in the yard. Sometimes we have to go back and forth with the workers to see if a certain block is still in the inventory. It’s a lot of phone calls and checking handwritten lists. We try to keep things simple here. We don’t do big sales talks. We just show the stone and tell people what it costs and when it can be moved to their site. My family has been doing this for a long time. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot around Geejgarh Tower over the years, but the stone business stays pretty much the same. We just show up, do the work, and head home.
