About Agarwal Marble Factory – Building & Construction Material in Jaipur
Working out here in the V. K. I. Area is always loud because of all the other factories around us on Road No. 9-j. Our place is at A-87, and you can usually hear the saws running from down the block. Cutting marble takes a lot of water and time. The floor is almost always damp, and we all wear rubber boots to keep our feet dry. It’s a bit of a rough environment, not like the offices you see in the city center. We get the big blocks of stone in on flatbed trucks and then we have to figure out the best way to slice them up without wasting too much. Sometimes the stone has a hidden flaw inside that you don't see until the blade is halfway through it. That's just frustrating, but there's nothing you can do. We don't have any fancy brochures or a website that looks like a magazine. Most of our work is just dealing with contractors who know what they need and want it cut to size. We have a small desk in the corner where we keep the ledgers and the phone. In the winter, it gets quite cold in the shed because the wind blows right through the open doors. We just put on extra sweaters and keep working. It’s a lot of manual labor and loud machinery every single day, but that’s the way it is.
