Akarmarble

Down at Akarmarble, we stay pretty busy at Plot No. A-187(I) in the V.K.I. section. It’s a straightforward setup. We have the space filled with different types of marble. Some of it is local and some comes from further away. I spend most of my day walking around the lot. It is a bit crowded right now because we just got a big delivery. You have to watch where you step with all the scraps on the ground. We handle the cutting and the basics. People usually come to us when they know exactly what they want. We don't spend money on fancy brochures or anything like that. The stone speaks for itself when you see it in the sunlight. V.K.I. is a good place for a business like ours because everyone else doing industrial work is nearby. It makes things easier for transport. Sometimes the traffic on the main road is a headache, but we manage. We’ve got a couple of regular helpers who have been with us for years. We know the machines and we know the stone. It’s not a complicated life. We wake up, we cut some marble, we load some trucks, and we go home. It’s dirty work, but there is something nice about seeing a rough block turn into a smooth slab. We are usually there six days a week unless something comes up. The morning tea is the only quiet time we get before the saws start up again.
