Sona Mobile is my small shop over at Nehru Bazar Link Road, specifically at Kamla Nehru Market 22. It’s a tiny space, but we’ve managed to fit a lot of things inside. Mostly, I spend my time fixing screens that people have dropped or trying to get old batteries to hold a charge again. It’s fiddly work with tiny screws and thin wires, and sometimes it really tests my patience when things don't go back together quite right. The market outside is always full of people looking for a bargain, so it gets pretty noisy with all the shouting and the motorbikes going past. I sell a lot of small things too, like chargers, plastic cases, and screen guards. People are always coming in asking for the cheapest option, so I try to keep a bit of everything. It’s not like those fancy mobile stores in the shopping malls with bright lights and glass counters. Here, it’s a bit cramped and the shelves are a bit crooked, but it works for us. I’ve been in this market for several years now, and I’ve seen a lot of shops come and go. I just keep my head down and work on whatever phone is on my desk. Some days are slow, and I just sit on the stool and watch the crowd, but other days I have a backlog of repairs that keeps me here until late at night. Sometimes the light in here flickers, but I just ignore it and keep fixing phones.
