Shri Lakshmi Agro

Shri Lakshmi Agro is located right at the Jaipur Stand in Jamwa Ramgarh. It’s a dusty spot because of all the buses and tractors pulling in and out all day. We deal with agricultural things, so there is always the smell of earth and dried grain in the air. The shop is basically a large room with high ceilings. We keep the heavy bags of seeds and fertilizers towards the back. Most of the people who come by are farmers from the nearby villages. They arrive early, usually right as we are opening up. We don’t have any air conditioning, just the breeze coming through the open front when the wind is right. Sometimes a stray dog will sit in the shade of our doorway to hide from the sun. The counter is made of old wood that’s been smoothed down by years of people leaning on it. We spend a lot of time talking about the rain or how the crops are doing this season. It’s not a fast-paced place. Things move at a slower speed out here in Jamwa Ramgarh. We write out the bills by hand on a paper pad. When the Jaipur buses pull into the stand, the whole place shakes a little bit. It’s a simple life. We sell what the farmers need and we listen to their stories. That’s about all there is to it. No fancy business here, just the daily grind.
