Arjuna Agro Industries

Our business, Arjuna Agro Industries, is located in Gangouri Bazar, down a small lane called Bahara Ji Ki Gali. It’s a traditional part of the city where things haven't changed very much in many decades. We deal with agricultural products, so the air inside the shop usually smells like grain and earth. We have heavy sacks of produce piled high against the walls. The trucks can't come all the way to our door because the street is much too narrow, so we have to use handcarts to move everything back and forth. It’s hard physical work, especially when the weather is humid in the summer. We have a small office area with an old wooden desk where we keep all our ledgers and papers. We don't use much technology here; a basic calculator and a blue pen are usually enough for us to get through the day. The walls are very thick and they keep the place a bit cooler than the street outside. We have a few regular traders who come in every week to talk about the crops and the current prices. We don't have a mission statement or any fancy corporate goals. We just focus on getting the produce in and sending it out to the local markets. Sometimes we share a simple meal together on the floor of the shop when we are too busy to go home. It’s a basic operation.
