We are based at B-84 in C Scheme, which is a pretty central part of the city. The shop is full of all kinds of electronic bits and pieces that we’ve collected over the years. If you look around, you’ll see shelves crowded with remote controls, different lengths of cables, and stacks of old television sets that people left for repair and never picked up. It’s a bit of a maze inside with boxes piled up on the floor. We spend most of our time at a small workbench in the back, usually with a soldering iron in hand or a screwdriver trying to open up a gadget. There’s always a smell of solder and old dust in the air. C Scheme is a busy area, so there’s always some noise from the street, but we mostly focus on the small parts in front of us. People come in with broken heaters or asking for a specific type of battery that they can't find anywhere else. We don't really have a fancy display window or anything like that. We just put some of the newer items near the front so people can see them through the glass. It’s a lot of tinkering and trying to figure out why something stopped working. Sometimes we can fix it and sometimes we can't, but we always take a look. It’s a steady way to spend the day, surrounded by wires and the sound of the radio playing softly in the background.
