Padam Arts

If you head down to Chaura Rasta and look for Dhamani Street, that is where you will find us at Padam Arts. It’s one of those narrow lanes where the sunlight doesn't always reach the ground properly because the buildings are so close together. The whole street is filled with people selling all sorts of things and the smell of the market is everywhere. Our shop is just like the others around here, a bit small and packed to the ceiling with materials and stuff we need. We do our art work in the back where it is a little quieter than the front. Sometimes the stray cows wander down the street and block the way for a bit but that’s just Chaura Rasta for you. We have been in this same spot for quite a while now and the locals know us well. It gets really hot in the summer and we only have a couple of old fans to keep the air moving while we work. You have to watch your step on Dhamani Street because the pavement is uneven and there are always people rushing past with heavy loads on their heads. At the end of the day we pull down the metal shutters and head home like everyone else. It is a busy life in this part of the city but we like the energy of the market. There is always something to see or someone to talk to while we are working on our latest pieces of art. It’s a simple life for us here.
