Chandpole Bazar is always crowded, and our spot in Narsingh Ji Ki Gali is no different. We spend most of our days surrounded by marble and stone. There’s a lot of white dust everywhere, and it gets into everything, even your hair. Being near Kalyan Ji Ka Rasta means there is a lot of history around us, though we are mostly just busy with the work at hand. Onex Marble Art isn't a big factory; it's more of a place where we sit and figure out how to make the stone look right. Some days are slow and we just chat with the neighbors, and other days we are working late under the lights. The tools are loud, and the floor is always cold because of the stone. We don't have a receptionist or anything like that. If you walk in, you'll probably see one of us covered in dust or looking at a piece of marble. It’s hard work on the back and the hands, but it’s what we do. The bazar has its own rhythm, and we’ve been part of it for a long time. People come looking for something for their homes or temples, and we show them what we have on the floor. It’s simple, really. We just show up, do the carving or the polishing, and go home when the sun goes down. It’s a living.
