Neerja Blue Pottery

Neerja Blue Pottery is situated in Tejaji Nagar Murti Kala Colony. It's over in the C Scheme area near the 80 Feet Road by the Gopalpura Bypass. This part of town is known for its artisans and people making things. Our workshop is filled with clay and paints most of the time. You can see the blue color everywhere because that is what we specialize in. It is messy work and our hands are rarely clean. The kilns get hot in the summer and the whole place smells like damp earth and fire. We have shelves lined with pots, plates, and tiles in various stages of being finished. Some are waiting for their first coat of paint while others are ready for the oven. It takes a long time to finish even one small piece. We don't rush through it because the clay doesn't like to be rushed. Visitors often look surprised at how many steps it takes to make a simple vase. We just work at our own pace. The colony is a busy place with a lot of noise from the bypass nearby. But inside the walls, it’s mostly just the sound of brushes and the occasional radio playing. It’s a tradition we’ve kept going here for years. It’s just how we live and what we know. We hope the colors stay bright.
