Mridula Beauty Parlour

This shop is tucked away in Jagdamba Nagar D, right in the Hira Pura area of Jaipur. I’ve lived around here for a long time, so opening Mridula Beauty Parlour in Dhawas felt like the right thing to do. It’s a small room, but it’s ours. Most days it’s just the sound of the scissors and the radio playing some old songs. The ladies from the neighboring houses come over when they have a bit of free time from their chores. We mostly handle hair cuts and simple facials. It’s not one of those big fancy places you see in the malls. We have a couple of chairs and a big mirror that’s been there since day one. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, so we just sit and talk until the lights come back. That’s how it is in this part of town. Getting here is easy enough if you know where Dhawas is. We don’t have any big signs or bright lights. It’s just a honest place where you can get your hair done without a fuss. I like seeing the same faces every month. It makes the work feel less like work and more like meeting friends. We try to keep the floors swept and the combs clean. It’s just a regular local parlour for regular people who want to look a bit nicer.
