Moorti Bhandar

You can find Moorti Bhandar at 2410, Khajane Walon Ka Rasta. It’s one of those narrow lanes where there’s always something happening. We’ve been making and selling statues here for a long time, just like many of our neighbors. The shop is filled with figures of all sizes, some finished and some just starting to take shape. There’s a lot of stone dust on the floor and the smell of wet marble is something we’ve just gotten used to over the years. We don't have a website with a shopping cart or anything like that. People usually just walk in, look around, and talk to us about what they need for their home or a temple. It’s a very hands-on kind of business. My family has been doing this for generations, so the tools we use are quite old but they still work just fine. Sometimes the street gets so crowded that it’s hard to move a large statue out, but we always manage somehow. We sit on low stools while we work and there’s usually some tea being shared around. It’s not a polished showroom; it’s a workshop where we actually make things with our hands. We take pride in the details, but we don't go around bragging about it. It’s just what we do every day. When the sun hits the stone in the afternoon, the whole place brightens up. We usually close up shop when it gets too dark to see the fine lines. The dust is everywhere.
