We are situated at Plot Number 4 in Shriram Colony, which is just a short walk from Khetan Hospital. The location is pretty handy because it’s quiet enough for us to focus on the furniture we are making but close enough to the main spots so people can find us. Our workshop is usually full of the smell of cut wood and whatever finish we are applying that day. There are piles of planks stacked up against the walls and sawdust on the floor no matter how many times we sweep it up. We do a mix of furniture and some art pieces, so there is always something different leaning against the workbench. The guys here have been working with their hands for a long time and you can see it in their calloused palms. We don’t have a fancy showroom with bright lights; we just show people the pieces as they are being built. Sometimes the hospital traffic makes the road a bit busy, but usually, it’s just the sound of the saws and hammers going. We take our time with each piece because rushing usually leads to mistakes we don’t want to make. It’s a practical workspace where utility comes before appearance. If someone stops by, they usually find us covered in wood shavings, just trying to get the joints to fit perfectly before the day ends.
