Marble Arts Palace

If you come down New Ramgarh Road and turn into Krishna Colony, you’ll find Marble Arts Palace at B-28 on Pushpa Marg. We’ve been working with stone in this spot for quite a long time. The yard is usually full of slabs and smaller pieces waiting to be carved or cut. There is always a layer of white dust over everything, no matter how much we sweep. It’s just the nature of the job. We have a small crew of guys who really know how to handle the heavy stuff without breaking it. We don't have a glossy catalog or a showroom with air conditioning. You just walk into the yard and see what we are working on. Sometimes we are doing big decorative pieces and other times it is just simple slabs for floors. The noise of the saws can be a bit much during the day, so we usually talk pretty loud to hear each other. We take our work seriously but we don't put on any airs about it. It’s a practical business. My uncle started it and now we just keep it going as best as we can. We spend most of our time outside or under the tin roof when it rains. It is hard work on the back and hands, but seeing a finished piece leave the gate feels good. We keep a few plastic chairs for when a customer wants to sit and talk about a design. The neighbor’s dog usually sleeps near the gate.
