We have been running Marathon Batteries over here at Jamdoli 69 for quite a while now. It is just a small place where we keep all kinds of batteries stacked up against the walls. Mostly we deal with car batteries and those big ones people use for their home inverters when the power goes out. The shop gets really hot in the summer months but we just keep the fan going and stay busy. Sometimes people come in because their tractor won't start or they need a small battery for a backup light. We do not have any fancy displays or a big team of people. It is mostly just me and a helper who comes in the afternoons to move the heavy stuff. We spend a lot of time testing old batteries to see if they can still hold a charge or if they are completely dead. The floor is usually a bit dirty from the acid and the dust but that is just part of the job. We try to be honest about what needs replacing and what can wait a bit longer. Most of our customers are from right here in Jamdoli so we see the same faces quite often. We close up around eight in the evening once things quiet down on the road. It is just a regular local shop where we work hard and try to help people get their vehicles or lights back on without too much trouble.
