Our workshop is located at No. 38/166 on Kiran Path in Mansarovar. We spend our days working with stone and marble, carving out different figures and statues. It’s a noisy place with the sound of chisels and grinders going all the time. Dust is everywhere, which is just part of the job when you’re making moortis. We’ve been in Mansarovar for years, and we like being part of the local community here. People often stop by just to see what we are currently working on. Each piece takes time. You can't really rush this kind of work. Sometimes a block of stone has a flaw, and we have to start over or change the plan. It’s not like a factory where everything is the same. We have a small group of workers who have been doing this for a long time. Our hands are always covered in stone dust by the end of the shift. The shop isn't anything special to look at from the outside, but there’s a lot going on inside. We don't really use computers for much, just the basics. Most of our skill is in our hands and the tools we use. It’s a traditional way of making a living. We just keep doing what we know how to do, day after day, right here on Kiran Path. It is hard work but it feels good to see the finished statues.
