Kamashah Beauty Parlour

Kamashah Beauty Parlour is tucked away in the Mansarovar area of Jaipur, specifically around Aggarwal Farm. It’s a local place through and through. We don’t have a big team or anything, it’s mostly just us working through the daily list of people who walk in. The neighborhood is mostly families, so we get a lot of mothers and their daughters coming in together. The shop has a few chairs and a small area where people can sit and wait. It’s not overly decorated. I think simple is better because it’s easier to keep clean. Mansarovar is so big that you really have to know where you’re going to find specific spots, but most people around Aggarwal Farm know where we are. We don't do a lot of advertising. Word of mouth is how most people find us. Someone tells their neighbor they liked their haircut, and then the neighbor shows up a week later. That’s how it’s been for a long time now. The mornings are usually slow, which gives me time to organize the rollers and the dyes. By the afternoon, it picks up and stays busy until we close the shutters for the night. It’s honest work and we enjoy the people who visit us. We just focus on doing the job with the scissors and the thread. Most days are fine, even if the traffic outside gets a bit much when everyone is heading home in the evening.
