If you are in Jhotwara and looking for house number 367, you will find Joshi Communication. I’ve lived in this area my whole life, so opening a shop here just made sense. It’s a small place where we handle mobile recharges, sim cards, and some basic electronics. I remember when we used to mostly sell those scratch cards for phone credit, but now everything is done on the computer. I have a small desk with a PC that’s a few years old, and it gets the job done. People from the neighborhood stop by not just for their phones, but often just to chat for a few minutes. We have a couple of chairs for customers, but they are usually covered with newspapers or boxes of new headphones. The walls are covered with posters for different mobile networks that have been there for ages. Sometimes the internet is slow and we have to wait, which gives us time to talk about what’s happening in Jhotwara. It’s a simple setup. My wife helps me out in the afternoons so I can go run errands or grab supplies from the city. We aren't looking to become some big retail chain. We just like having a spot where the locals feel comfortable coming in. The shop is small, the lights are a bit dim, but it’s our place and we’ve been here long enough that people know us. It is just a neighborhood corner shop.
