Janta Machinery Store

Our shop, Janta Machinery Store, is located in the Somani Building right in the middle of the Chandpole Bazar Loha Mandi. It is an old building with really high ceilings and thick stone walls, which actually helps keep the place a bit cooler when the summer sun is beating down on the city. The bazaar outside is always a total mess of cycles, rickshaws, and people searching for random spare parts. We have got all kinds of machines and small components tucked into every single corner of the store. Sometimes it is honestly hard to even see the floor because of all the wooden crates piled up. We don’t use any fancy technology here; we still rely on our own memory and a few old paper ledgers to keep track of what we have in stock. If you need a specific bolt or a heavy-duty motor, we probably have it buried somewhere in the back room. It is a family-run kind of place, so you will often find one of us sitting there drinking tea and talking to a customer about their farm or their workshop. We don’t put on any acts or pretend to be some big corporate office with a dress code. We just know our machinery and we have been in the Somani Building long enough to know where every single floorboard creaks. The air always smells like oil and old paper, which I like.
