Hindustan Moorti Bhandar

Hindustan Moorti Bhandar is right here at the Ivth Crossing in Khejron Ka Rasta. If you know Chandpole Bazar, you know how busy it gets with all the rickshaws and people walking by. We have been working with stone and marble for a long time now. My grandfather started this whole thing and now we are just carrying it on. It is not a fancy place at all. Most days the floor is covered in white dust from the carving and the noise of the hammers is just part of the day. We spend most of our time out back or in the small front area showing people what we have finished. We make all sorts of statues, mostly for temples or for people who want something nice for their home entrance. It is hard work and your hands get rough, but it is what we know. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait a bit, or the monsoon rain makes the stone slippery. We don't really do big advertisements or anything like that. People usually just find us by walking through the bazar or someone tells them to come here. We just try to finish the pieces on time, though sometimes things take longer if the stone is tough. It is just a local shop with a few of us working together every day from morning until the market closes.
