Gulmarg Beauty Parlour

Over here in Jhotwara, Jaipur, you’ll find Gulmarg Beauty Parlour. We are situated on Kalwara Road, which stays pretty busy most days. The 302012 area has changed a lot since we first started, but the shop is still basically the same. It’s a small space with a few mirrors and chairs. In the summer, it gets very hot in Jaipur, so we try to keep the place as comfortable as possible for whoever comes in. We spend our time doing basic things like haircuts and threading. Most of our customers are women from the local streets around Jhotwara. They come in after doing their shopping or before heading home to cook. We don’t have any corporate rules or anything like that. We just talk like neighbors. Sometimes the tea arrives from the stall nearby and we take a short break. The floor needs sweeping every hour because of all the hair. It’s a lot of work, but it keeps us busy. We don’t have any big marketing plans. People just see the sign and walk in. It’s a simple way to make a living. We know the regulars by name and we know what they usually want. It’s just a quiet spot on Kalwara Road where we do our daily tasks. We keep things honest and just do the work. The desert dust gets in everything, so we are always dusting the shelves. It’s never ending.
