Govind Crafts

We are located right in the thick of things at 78, Chandpole Bazar. Govind Crafts is basically a small shop and a back room filled with all sorts of items. If you’ve ever walked through Chandpole Bazar, you know how loud and colorful it is. There are scooters honking and people everywhere. Inside our place, it’s a bit of a squeeze. We have piles of textiles and wooden crafts stacked up to the ceiling. It’s not organized like a modern store; it’s more of a functional mess. We spend a lot of time wrapping things in newspaper and packing them into cardboard boxes to be sent out. Our hands are usually a bit stained from the dyes or dusty from the wood. We don’t have a big corporate strategy. We just look at what the artisans bring us and try to find people who want to buy it. Sometimes the shipments are late because of a festival or just the general chaos of the market. We sit on low stools and talk to the people who drop by, whether they are buying one piece or a hundred. It gets really sweaty in the summer, but that’s just life in the bazar. We’ve been here a long time and the shop next door has been there even longer. It’s just a simple life of buying and selling handmade things. We don't overthink it, we just keep the doors open and work.
