We are set up over in Sushilpura, right off Ajmer Road in Sodala. It’s a decent area of Jaipur, though the traffic on the main road can be a nightmare during rush hour. Our building is C-54/55, and it’s usually quite a hive of activity inside. We focus on designs and textiles, trying to put together things that people actually want to wear or use. It’s not always easy. Sometimes a design doesn't work out like you thought it would on paper. We spend a lot of time debating over colors and patterns. It’s a small team here, so everyone ends up doing a bit of everything. One minute you're looking at fabric, the next you're helping load a van. We don't really do the whole corporate hierarchy thing. If the floor needs sweeping, whoever is closest grabs the broom. That’s just the way we like it. Jaipur is a great place for this kind of work because there’s so much history with cloth and dyes around us. We try to stay true to that while just making a living. It’s a lot of long hours and sometimes the air conditioning struggles with the heat, but we get the job done. We aren't fancy, and we don't pretend to be. Just a group of people working with cloth in a corner of the city, hoping the next batch turns out good.
